KäpaKohting (also known as "Dog Dates", available at dogdates.app) is a free web app that helps dog owners in Estonia find dog parks, swimming spots, and arrange meetups with other dog owners. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, and either a password (stored securely, hashed, never in plain text) or, if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, the basic profile information those services share with us (typically your name, email address, and profile photo).
- Profile information you provide: your display name, your dog's name, your dog's size and chosen avatar, and an optional short bio for your dog.
- Meetup activity: dog park meetups you create or join, including the date, time, an optional note, and which park is involved.
- Location (optional): if you use the "find nearest park" feature, your browser's geolocation is used locally to sort parks by distance. We do not store this location.
- Usage analytics: if you accept our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used. No analytics data is collected before you give consent.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To let you organize and join dog meetups, and show other users who is attending.
- To send you account-related emails (password reset, email verification) via our transactional email provider.
- To understand overall app usage and improve the service (only with your cookie consent).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Sharing with third-party services
We rely on the following service providers to run the app. Each only receives the data necessary for their function:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication, database, hosting) — Google Privacy Policy
- Google Analytics (usage statistics, only after consent) — Google Privacy Policy
- Google Sign-In and Facebook Login (optional sign-in methods, only if you choose to use them) — Meta Privacy Policy
- Twilio SendGrid (delivery of account-related emails) — Twilio Privacy Policy
Cookies
We only load Google Analytics cookies after you explicitly accept our cookie banner. You can decline, and the app will function fully without them. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage.
Your rights
- Access: you can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app's Settings.
- Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see our Data Deletion instructions.
- Correction: you can update your name, dog's details, email, and password directly in Settings.
Data retention
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your profile and associated meetup data within a reasonable time, as described on the Data Deletion page.
Children
KäpaKohting is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
